• Senate Chooses Christmas Break Over Toy Safety

    The House approved its version of a reform bill that would have increased funding for the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), banned lead from children's products, and added other protections designed to improve toy safety. But despite the onslaught of toy recalls in 2007, the Senate convened at the year's end without acting on a counterpart bill that had been approved by committee.
